Additional Products

Besides the normal chemical products such as antiscalants and membrane cleaners, some membrane systems require more specialized products. You may be required or need to deal with biological infestations of your membrane system and piping. You may need to turn off your membrane system and put it into storage. Or you may have organic or biological material fouling your membrane elements. If so, the products listed here may be the answer you have been looking for.

Microbiological Control Products

When feed water comes into the membrane system there inevitably will be microorganisms such as bacteria, yeasts, and their associated slimes coming in as well. Normally these ‘bugs’ simply pass through. A few manage to stick to the membrane element, but are removed more or less easily during normal high pH membrane cleanings.

However, there are some sites that have more aggressive bugs, or have suffered an unexpected shut down that allowed the bugs more time in the system to colonize. That’s when Microreat BIOTM or Microtreat TFTM can save the day.

DI Loop Products

A DI Loop refers to any piping that carries good quality water. It originally referred to piping systems in pharmaceutical manufacturing or other businesses requiring a high quality water distribution system. When you have a piping system that needs to be cleaned, Microclean UHPTM is the product to use.

If you think about a pipe containing water, you will see a dark, wet, and sometimes stagnant environment that can get warm on occasion. To bacteria and other microorganisms (bugs) this is an ideal place to call home. Over time bugs will, if unchecked, colonize the surface of the pipes and start to shred slime and other not so sanitary material into your water.

Membranes Storage Products

Membrane elements are a lot like pipes. They can provide a dark, wet environment for microorganisms (bugs) to grow. The condition that keeps bugs in check is the normal rapid flow of water through the element. When the flow is turned off due to a equipment problem or a planned shutdown, bugs can take advantage and start forming large colonies on the membrane surface that are protected by slime blankets. These slime layers cut down the elements productivity when put back into service. And they can be difficult to remove during membrane cleanings.

MemstorTM is a formulated product used for the storage of membrane elements either within the membrane system, or when elements are bagged and stored outside the membrane system. Elements can be stored in MemstorTM for at least six months and as long as one year.

Antifoulant Products

Besides dissolved salt that can form scales, there is organic and biological material that can foul membranes. Colloids, silt, other fine particulates also can act as foulants. These materials can be removed by membrane cleaning. However, some feed waters contain such a large amount of this type of foulant that the system needs to be cleaned far too frequently. That is when antifoulants such as Protec ROTM and Protec ROTM C can make a difference.

Protec ROTM and Protec ROTM C act toward organic material and colloids like silt in the same fashion as antiscalants toward inorganics that can form scale.

Coagulants

ProFlocTM-C is a coagulant for improving significantly the efficiency of the removal of colloidal particles and dissolved polymers by multi-media filters. This formulation contains a high molecular weight organic polymer. It is to be injected ahead of the multi-media filters.
