Pretreat Plus® Silica

RO and NF Antiscalant

Pretreat Plus® – Silica is similar to Pretreat Plus® – 0100 with additional silica scaling inhibition. This product can be used in any size system where the feed water has 25+ ppm of silica. Pretreat Plus® – Silica is a broad spectrum antiscalant controlling calcium carbonate, silica, iron, and all slightly soluble salts that would form scale in its absence. It protects membranes from inorganic foulants even when these are present in high concentrations. Pretreat Plus® – Silica does not react with other treatment chemicals such as coagulants. This product has greatly reduced operating costs by eliminating the need to inject acid, and extending the period between membrane cleanings. Because of its effectiveness, Pretreat Plus® – Silica has also lowered capital costs of reverse osmosis (RO), and nanofiltration (NF) systems by increasing membrane lifetime. Due to the success of Pretreat Plus® – Silica, it continues to displace older water treatment technologies and competitors products.

Advantages to using Pretreat Plus® – Silica

  • Operate RO and NF at high recoveries even with high levels of silica
  • Reduce membrane cleaning
  • Extend membrane lifetime
  • Lower operating and capital costs
  • Certified under ANSI/NSF Standard 60 for drinking water production.
  • Compatible with major manufacturer’s RO, NF, and UF membranes.
  • Does not react with other chemicals
  • Controls iron, and mineral scale

Pretreat Plus® – Silica is injected upstream of the high pressure pump and cartridge filters. If frozen, may be thawed and mixed before use. Stability is excellent, but best used within 12 months.

Dosing Recommendations:

Pretreat Plus® – Silica is a product that can be used on almost any water containing high levels of silica. Since silica fouling is a serious problem, we recommend sending your systems water chemistry to us for an antiscalant projection to specify a dosage.
